WORKSHOP: Birth and postpartum as a human right

$240.00

Birth and Postpartum as a Human Right is a two part series that invites participants into the basic essentials of birth sovereignty and human rights during the childbearing journey rooted firmly in Indigenous and decolonial frameworks.

We will explore:

Understanding dignified birth and postpartum as a human right.

Exploring human rights in birth, including autonomy, informed choice, and cultural safety.

Unpacking colonial disconnections; how systemic birth protocols disrupt cultural, ancestral and bodily knowledge.

Infusing personal experience and a decolonial lens; understanding precolonial birthing worldviews and reconnection with land and ancestry.

Week 2 will be focused solely on the basics of postpartum care and postpartum as a community responsibility.

This two part series is for parents, birthworkers, doulas, therapists, community healers, and anyone called to reframe birth and postpartum through an anti-oppressive, re-indigenising lens.

The intention is that you will leave with frameworks to understand birth as a rite of passage, to advocate for autonomy, and to reweave postpartum care.

WHEN: Saturday September 27th 2pm Aest and Sunday October 5th 10am Aedt

Each class will run for 90 minutes and will be interactive. You will receive a PDF with notes and basic postpartum recipes to share with your community.

WHERE: Via Zoom - classes will be live and recorded.
